What is worth knowing about JetBlue
JetBlue took the sharpest edge off its cheapest fare in September 2024: Blue Basic now includes a free carry-on alongside the personal item, so the fare name no longer implies a bag fee. That personal item is 17 x 13 x 8 in, tighter than the 18 x 14 x 8 the US majors mostly use, so a bag bought for American or British Airways is not automatically safe here. JetBlue is also unusually explicit past the limit: 63-80 in or 51-99 lb attracts a fee, and beyond that the bag is refused outright.

The sizes above are the ones JetBlue publishes. These are not, and they do not change when you switch carriers: liquids in the cabin — at a US checkpoint every liquid, aerosol, gel, cream and paste must be 3.4 oz (100 ml) or less and fit one quart-sized bag (TSA — Liquids, Aerosols and Gels Rule); and power banks and spare lithium batteries, which must be carried in the cabin only, never in a checked bag, with an ordinary rechargeable cell capped at 100 watt-hours (FAA PackSafe — Lithium Batteries). The FAA states that airlines may set stricter watt-hour and quantity limits than its own, so JetBlue can be tighter than this and never looser.
