Can you bring food & snacks on a plane?
TSA's official answer, checked against tsa.gov on 2026-07-02.
Carry-on bag yes
Solid food is fine in carry-on. Liquid or gel foods (yogurt, spreads, sauces) over 3.4 oz are not — they follow the 3-1-1 liquids rule.
Checked bag yes
Solid food travels freely in checked bags.
Officers may ask you to separate food from your bag so the X-ray image stays clear — pack it near the top.
Liquids, gels and aerosols in carry-on follow the TSA 3-1-1 rule. The final decision always rests with the TSA officer at the checkpoint.
