Can you bring medication & pills on a plane?
TSA's official answer, checked against tsa.gov on 2026-07-02.
Carry-on bag yes
Pills and solid meds — any amount, no baggie needed. Medically necessary liquids OVER 3.4 oz are exempt from 3-1-1 — declare them at the checkpoint for separate screening. Cooling ice packs must be frozen solid at screening.
Checked bag yes
Allowed in any form — but TSA and common sense both say keep essential meds with you in the cabin.
Liquids, gels and aerosols in carry-on follow the TSA 3-1-1 rule. The final decision always rests with the TSA officer at the checkpoint.
